Lunar Eclipse

So on Monday/Tuesday (12:00AM-3:30AM) there was a Lunar Eclipse. Anyone see it? Where I live it was cloudy and it couldn't be seen; but still, I looked and behold the sky was tinted a faint red. Was it just me? Was it the street lamps? I will never know for sure. But I want to hear from you. Just comment and put your first name (not last) or a nickname and your state (not city) and a detailed account of what you saw (optional). Please do it! I really want to know. Truly.

This is the Full Lunar Eclipse of December 21st 2010.

The next will be in 2014. I'll be doing a countdown widget.

Census!

The 2010 Census finally came out! Here are just a few stuff I found interesting:

The population of the United States of America is:
308,745,538

Just a random state:
Utah has increased by: 28.8 % with a population of 2,783,885. For the first time in decades, Utah has grown so much that they got another House Chair.

My favorite blog

OK, this is by far my most favorite blog ever! It's called The Troubadour and it is the Christa McCauliffe Space Center official blog. They have something called the Imaginarium which had some of the funniest things ever... so I am going to share some with you. But just remember I found these at this blog and they are not my own. Just giving credit.
Here's the website if ya want to check it out: http://voyagerslog.blogspot.com/

Totally awesome!

Second:

Checkmate. Gruesome, but necessary.

Third:

If you want a larger view go to the blog and search for I've Shoveled Too Much Today. Time for a Few Laughs.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

Mr. Williamson, the director sent this out to all his volunteers and workers who LOVE and I mean Love Harry Potter (which would be me!) Go Mr. Williamson.

Be sure to check out his blog; he's hilarious!

The Princesses of the Midnight Ball

The Princesses of the Midnight Ball
Jessica Day George
Ages: 12+

In this book Jessica Day George twists and expands the story of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. She expertly expands it. It is placed in her own 19th Century Germany. I loved the characters, expecially Galen (gay-len) an soldier turned under-gardener who tries to uncover the secret of the worn out dancing slipper. Jessica Day George puts knitting into her story. Galen is an expert knitter and uses his skills help his solve the secret. In the back of her book she has a pronounciation guide for the German names and has the knitting patterns for the items knitted in the book. Absolutley awesome! Know, I'm not a big knitter (but I hope to be someday) and this totally inspired me to learn how to knit more complex things such as shawls. I just have to find someone to teach me. But anyone who is a fan of Shannon Hale will love these stories.

Choco Meter

I'm not that into opening FW in my email but this one was from a friend who I trust her judgement so here it is. I have to say it's pretty cool. It only works in 2010 so do it fast. Sorry there were pictures but they wouldn't work.

CHOCO METER
YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

Don't tell me your age; you'd probably lie anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute
Work this out as you read
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1760 .
If you haven't, add 1759.

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2010) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS
Chocolate Calculator.

Just a thought...

Now I am going to debate both sides so don't think I'm for one side.

Should children be told the truth about Santa by the time they are in Secondary School?

Yes:
They are old enough. If they don't know they will be teased. They will probably have figured it out by now. I think that they are old enough to figure find what is reality and what is myth. They have the right to know.

No:
People shouldn't be crushing their dreams. They should ask to know not be told. Many people can believe in what they want. It's like religion. The child who doesn't know the truth should know the truth when they ask. You should not ruin it for them.

What do you think? I know these sides aren't very strong but hey I tried. I am not sure which side I would take. Recently I heard of a girl who in a PE class at the local middle school heard the truth about Santa; the PE not knowing she had a child who did not know the truth told it loud and clear. The girl then went home in tears and was not very happy with her parents for not telling her. The teacher was blamed. Who do you think should be blamed?
The teacher had no idea, but maybe the teacher should be more careful. Or, the parents should have thought this had happened and then they should have told the child before to protect her from what happened.
Again, What do you think?
Have a great week.

PS
Tonight is a New Moon. Very foggy too where I live.

Harry Potter 7

Ages 9 and up.
I thought it was ok. Not the best of the movies as many people have been saying. I thought it was too long. 2 hours and 16 minutes without previews! About 90% of the movie was camping! The main characters were mostly Hermione and Harry. They still left out some. Like, in the book at the beginning it they had Dumbledore's funeral. At the beginning of the movie they had the wedding. I think that Part 2 will be the best of all the movies but so far the 3rd one is my favorite. For those that didn't see or read the book it was a little confusing. I read them but a while ago and I was a little confused with some of it. Like with the mirror Harry keeps looking through. Many thought it was part of the mirror from the first book that shows you what you want in life. Well, I was reading through the book and it turns out it was the last thing Sirius Black had given to Harry. It had been at the bottom of his trunk and it had broken. Harry had found it while going through his stuff because he had stabbed himself with it. Also the boy that they show in a flashback when Voldemort is with the wand maker Ollivander was Grindlewald, who was the childhood best friend of Dumbledore. In the end it was a good movie just not as good as others.
Bye for now!

Welcome

Hey Ya'l! What's going on! Here I'm going to discuss about current events, books, trends, movies, and pretty much anything I want. Feel free to comment though I will moniter. I will be posting weekly.

P.S.
Just for fun. My nickname is Die Skrywer which I hope you can figure out. HINT: It is Afrikaans.
